Benchmark Research joins the Consumer Healthcare Products Association

Benchmark Research has become an Associate Member of the Consumer Healthcare Products Association (CHPA). The CHPA, founded in 1881, is a member-based association representing the leading manufacturers and distributors of nonprescription, over-the-counter (OTC) medicines and nutritional supplements. Many CHPA member products provide millions of Americans with safe, effective, and convenient therapies for the treatment and prevention of many common ailments and diseases.

The CHPA and it's members are some of the largest pharmaceutical companies in the world - companies that Benchmark currently works with in the development of new drugs and treatments. OTC drugs are sold directly to the consumer without a prescription from a doctor or healthcare professional though still regulated by the FDA. Any new potential products will require testing to confirm their safety and effectiveness, and Benchmark will play an integral part of that testing process.

For our study volunteers, we hope this will mean plenty of new opportunities to test healthcare products prior to "over-the-counter" approval. For consumer healthcare companies, it will be the chance to extend our relationship beyond pharmaceutical drug development and utilize our expertise in complex clinical trials within the consumer healthcare products arena. This should pose some exciting new research in 2011!
