Site Description

In coordination with a sharp group of experienced research physicians and coordinators, Benchmark expanded into the New Orleans metro area in January 2005.  In our first year here, we couldnt have asked for a better team to start, who picked up the pieces of their homes and the business, and were fully operational only three months after Hurricane Katrina hit. Since then, we have grown into larger office space, and expanded our excellent team to include highly experienced coordinators and dedicated investigators.

 

Since Katrina, Benchmark has coordinated several community outreach efforts to bring research back to the New Orleans population. In return, the community has expressed a strong interest in and appreciation for research, and has been actively involved in clinical trials through Benchmark Research.

 

Dr. Robert Jeanfreau practiced medicine in the New Orleans metro area for decades as an Internal Medicine doctor. He now serves the community as a Practitioner and Investigator. Adopting the proven Benchmark model for success, he leads our team through research in the areas of Internal Medicine, Obesity, Smoking Cessation and Vaccines.

 

Mr. Jeff Segner leads our coordinator team in New Orleans , and has developed a dynamic site for success matching Dr. Jeanfreau's medical and research expertise. While earning his CCRC, he hired and trained one of Benchmark's strongest teams, with the help of Regional Manager Andrea Favalora. In addition,  Ms. Kristen Knight demonstrates her leadership as a coordinator, while also respectfully serving the community as ACRP Chapter President.

 

Our investigator team includes Drs. Jack Castrogiovanni (Internal Medicine), Edward Lang (Podiatric Medicine) and Shailaja Raj (Ob/Gyn / Reproductive Medicine). These investigators support Dr. Jeanfreau and each other, in addition to leading their own trials as Principal Investigators. All Benchmark Investigators take an active role in recruiting research patients from their own private practice populations.

 

Sadly, In 2007, Benchmark NOLA lost one of its leaders, Dr. Renaudin. Dr. Renaudin worked with many members of our team for more than a decade and he will be missed dearly by our firm, and the New Orleans medical community. His contributions to clinical research were significant. Today, his leadership and compassion for clinical research is manifested in the work of every member of our dedicated team.
