Site Description

After building a strong organizational structure in Texas, Benchmark expanded its services to the American west coast in 2003, opening its first California site in San Francisco . The expansion was virtually seamless due to the excellent identification and implementation of a solid coordinator and investigator team.

Our investigator team includes three dedicated Primary Investigators who lead trials, and support each other in clinical trial conduct as sub investigators. Dr. Ivor Emanuel is board certified in otolaryngology and has over 25 years of practice in Asthma, Allergy and Immunology.  He has been actively conducting Allergy and Vaccine research in the San Francisco area since the late 1980's. Dr. Robert Epstein has many years experience as an OB/GYN doctor and specializes in Woman's Health & other general health clinical trials. Dr. Martin Terplan is an Internal Medicine doctor, and leads clinical trials for various protocols, including Obesity, Pain Management and other Internal Medicine disorders.

Dr. Shawn Hassler is another team member who has served the Bay Area for years, specifically in the area of HIV and AIDS prevention and treatment. He recently joined our investigator team, and brought years of valuable research experience to  our organization. Vaccines and treatments are now both specialty areas of expertise for Benchmark Research, in a region of the U.S. where this disease is disproportionately represented.

The San Francisco research center is located in the downtown's primary medical complex, the 490 Post Medico - Dental Building . At the heart of Union Square , the site is just steps from where all of the Bay Area's major public transportation lines converge. Consequently, we consistently recruit patients from an ethnically / demographically diverse population of over 7 million people.
